Happy 18th Birthday to my Beautiful Daughter

Created on May 11, 2012

To be delivered May 11, 2030

Dear daughter,

If you are reading this, it means you have turned 18 and received this message from the Virtual Time Capsule. I wrote this on the day you were born, when I first held you in my arms and felt an overwhelming love and joy. You were so tiny and precious, and I knew I would do anything to protect you and make you happy.

I want you to know how much I love you and how proud I am of you. You have grown into a beautiful, smart, and kind young woman, and I am sure you have a bright future ahead of you. You have faced many challenges and overcome many obstacles, and I admire your courage and resilience. You have also brought so much happiness and laughter to our family, and I cherish every moment we have spent together.

I also want you to know how much I love your mother, and how we met and fell in love. We were both students at the University of Illinois, and we had a class together. I noticed her right away, because she had the most radiant smile and the most sparkling eyes. I was too shy to talk to her at first, but one day I gathered enough courage to ask her out for coffee. She said yes, and we hit it off right away. We had so much in common, and we enjoyed each other's company. We started dating, and soon we realized we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We got married after we graduated, and we moved to Schaumburg, where we bought our first house. We always wanted to have a child, and when we found out we were expecting you, we were over the moon. You were the best gift we ever received, and you made our family complete.

As you enter adulthood, I want to give you some life advice, based on my own experience and wisdom. I hope you will find it useful and helpful.

- Follow your dreams and passions. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't do, or what you should or shouldn't be. You have the power and the potential to achieve anything you set your mind to. Pursue your interests and talents, and don't be afraid to try new things. You have a unique voice and a unique perspective, and you have something valuable to offer to the world.

- Be yourself and be confident. Don't compare yourself to others, or let others define you. You are perfect and beautiful just the way you are. You have your own strengths and weaknesses, and you have your own personality and style. Embrace your individuality and celebrate your diversity. You have nothing to be ashamed of, and everything to be proud of.

- Be kind and compassionate. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and respect their feelings and opinions. You never know what someone else is going through, or what challenges they are facing. Be empathetic and supportive, and offer a helping hand or a listening ear when needed. You have a big heart and a generous spirit, and you have the ability to make a positive difference in someone's life.

- Be happy and grateful. Appreciate what you have, and don't take anything for granted. You have been blessed with many gifts and opportunities, and you have a lot to be thankful for. Enjoy the simple pleasures and the small moments, and don't let the negative things overshadow the positive ones. You have a bright smile and a cheerful attitude, and you have the capacity to spread joy and happiness to others.

I hope you will always remember these words, and keep them in your heart. I also hope you will always remember that I love you, and that I am always here for you. No matter how old you get, or how far you go, you will always be my little girl, and I will always be your father.

Happy 18th birthday, my darling daughter. I wish you all the best in life, and I hope all your dreams come true.

Love,

Dad
